UPDATE FOR SEASON 2021 – MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW

Co-Vid 2020 & 2021 Considerations for whole of association

The impact of Co-Vid on 2020 and 2021 is bringing new thinking to ‘how we should operate” as an Association.

Recently SDNA Exec ran a forum with club delegates re season 2021.   The overarching view was clubs wanted to resubmit teams from 2020, however acknowledging that there will be some “rebalancing” required to allow for player movement, (players not returning, new joiners etc.) and also player ability.

The most important issue was the Health and Wellbeing of the players and removal of barriers to return to court – this was consistent across all clubs.

Hampton Hammers & 2021

We have not settled on how the 2021 season will be approached, as yet.

  • Firstly, we need to understand at a macro level who is/isn’t returning.
  • We are in the process of determining numbers for our junior cohort - U11’s-15’s.
  • At this stage, we anticipate that HH will join the other clubs and  resubmit the same 2020 teams as best as possible.
  • There will be a forum with the coaches in the coming weeks/possibly new year to discuss season 2021 to discuss a range of topics.

We will let you when registration is open and keep you updated on all things netball with Hammers.

Our History

Hampton Hammers first played in the SDNA competition in 1984 with two teams of schoolgirls from Hampton Primary School. We have 20 teams from U/11 to Open.

Our Values

Our club strongly believes that life-long skills can be learnt by playing in a team sport like netball.

Skills such as the importance of fitness, fairness and good sporting values, not letting your team-mates down, resilience and perseverance and, that to achieve anything in life, you need to put in the effort.

We endeavour to foster and develop these skills in a friendly, caring and supportive environment regardless of the skill level of your child.

Players also have the opportunity to develop further skills in umpiring and coaching.

Our Committee

The Club is managed by a dedicated committee, consisting of volunteer parents and friends.

Match Play

Teams play on Saturdays at the Thomas St, Hampton netball courts some time between 8.15am and 6pm depending on the age group, commencing with Under 11s at 8.15am, and Open age teams commencing at 4.20pm.

The only exception is that two rounds of first year Under 11 matches are played on a Thursday night commencing at 5.45pm and 6.25pm. This is because there are insufficient courts at Thomas St to accommodate all teams on a Saturday.

The season commences late February and runs until the end of Term 3, however Round Robin grading matches are played for Under 11s on a Saturday in mid February.

No games are played on long weekends (or the Thursday before them) or during State School holidays.

Finals are held in the Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Open Age groups prior to the end of State School Term 3. If you have a player in any of these age groups, please try not to book any holidays away during the 3 week finals series as this will disadvantage the rest of the team.

For all known 2020 dates, including the finals dates please click here.

There is a 2nd SDNA season in the year, called the Spring comp, which runs for 6 or 7 weeks in 4th term where players are free to make up and register their own teams.

Training

Training is held on Friday afternoons at the Thomas St Hampton netball courts and we commence the first Friday after school goes back in Term 1.
•    Under 11 and Under 13 teams generally train between 4:15pm and 5:15pm depending on the coach’s availability.
•    Under 15 and Under 17 teams generally train between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.
•    Open age group teams do not usually train.
